So, here we are…the largest greenfield (some may argue mudfield) music and performing arts festival in the world turns 40 this year! Started back in 1970, the now legendary festival was opened by the group Stackridge and headlined by T-Rex.

Glastonbury was heavily influenced by hippie ethics and the free festival movement in the early 1970s, beginning with the Isle of Wight Festival which featured performances by The Who, amongst other artists. Afterward, organiser Michael Eavis stated that he decided to host the first festival, then called Pilton Festival, after seeing an open air Led Zeppelin concert at the Bath Festival of Blues and Progressive Music 1970

This week saw the official release of the 2010 lineup (after an initial leak on the internet) and it looks like the best one yet. Including artists such as Stevie Wonder, Snoop Dogg, Dizzee Rascal, U2, Muse, Foals, Jamie T, The XX, Mos Def, Good Shoes, Chase and Status, Simian Mobile Disco, Mystery Jets and many, many more.

Check out the official lineup for yourself HERE

This has left us all rather excited. So, below we would like to offer you a little teaser, just to get you into the glasto mood.

Some highlights from 2009:
