The Beatles agree deal with Apple to sell tracks on iTunes by wearesme

The long-running dispute between Apple Inc and The Beatles appears to have been resolved.

The band’s surviving members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, and the widows of John Lennon and George Harrison, have so far held out against making their music available digitally but they have finally come to an agreement with Apple to allow The Beatles catalogue to be made available for download via the iTunes music store.

The decision comes two years before the 50-year copyright protection on the Beatles’ earliest work is to due to begin running out.
Rumours were fuelled by an announcement on the iTunes website, which read: “Tomorrow is just anotherday that you’ll never forget. Check back here tomorrow for an exciting announcement from iTunes.”

This is good news for music fans worldwide. And what’s the betting that we’ll be seeing a handful of Beatles tracks in next weeks chart?
