[SME INTRODUCING] The Heartbreaks by wearesme

Who? Matthew Whitehouse (vocals), Joseph Kondras (Drums), Ryan Wallace (Guitar) and Deaks (Bass)
Yard? Morecambe
Sounds Like? Romantic take on British pop culture
Big Tune? Liar, My Dear

Hailing from Morecambe, The Heartbreaks are still in their infancy (as a band, not literally) having formed just under two years ago in May 2009. Their inspiration comes from Motown, bittersweet romance and the English seaside.

In the short time they have been together, The Heartbreaks have been championed by the likes of NME and Clash, won the Manchester Evening News award for Best New Band and have been hailed by Carl Barat as “the greatest support band ever!” after their passionate live shows during a support slot on his UK tour last winter.

They have their first single being released in the Spring and are looking set to kick some life back into the indie scene along with The Vaccines and the release of new Arctic Monkeys and Strokes material.

2011 looks set to be bright for these guys, so keep your ears open for them.

The Kills have just released a brilliant new video for their single ‘Satellite’ taken from the upcoming album Blood Pressures released on April 4th 2011.

The video sees Alison and Jamie jumping into a vintage Rolls Royce and embarking on a road trip along the British coast. On the way they stop for some Fish & Chips and a game on the slots but it isn’t all pleasantries; the video also features clips of several car crashes and ends on a bizarre note with Alison appearing to be unconscious on the back seat of the car.

[SNAPS] The Nicki Minaj London Lookbook by wearesme

Nicki Minaj has been causing chaos all week in London as she embarks on several PA’s promoting her album ‘Pink Friday’.

Nicki was due to make PA’s at both Oceana in Watford and Runway in the West End, however the later had to close their doors due to safety concerns caused by the sheer volume of people who turned up.

If that wasn’t enough; Nicki was then kicked out of the Dorchester hotel because they could not handle her excitable Barbz, some of which camped outside to get a glimpse of their idol.
She therefore relocated to another Hotel and went on to host a ‘Pink Friday’ party at Studio Valbonne on Friday night.

Nicki is never one to shy away from the papz and loves to cause a stir with her crazy cool outfits, and this week was no exception. Check out her London looks below:

[VIDEO] David Beckham’s passionate 2018 World Cup bid presentation by wearesme

SME are huge football fans and are praying that we get the 2018 World Cup here in England. It would be a once in a lifetime experience and would have a massive impact on the economy. Today is decision day, so it won’t be long before we find out whether our prayers have been answered.

This morning, David Beckham did his utmost to sway any undecided voters with an inspired and passionate speech in front of an assembly of world football’s governing body at its headquarters in Zurich. Watch the speech below:

Vodpod videos no longer available.

England, installed as odds-on favourites with Sky Bet, will now face an agonising wait for the results of the vote against Russia, Spain/Portugal and Holland/Belgium, with an announcement expected imminantly.

Fingers crossed!

Naughty Becks! by wearesme

The World Cup opening ceremony is so close we can almost taste it! All the partaking national teams are undergoing intensive training in preparation for the big tournament and none more so than the England team. Minus David Beckham of course who was the first of many big names to drop out of the tournament due to injury. (Rio Ferdinand, Michael Ballack, Michael Essien and now possibly Arjen Robben, Didier Drogba and Andrea Pirlo)

However, having travelled with the team as a coach, Becks appears to be finding it very hard to accept not being involved! Check out this video of him being told of like a naughty school kid by the physio’s and doctor’s as he starts pinging balls about at England training camp.

It really shows that despite it being his job, his love for the game is the same as every one of us. SME are sure that any of you who play football and have suffered an injury which puts you out of action for a while will really relate to this and know exactly how he feels. We know we do!

Bring on June 12th x

Believe Arena – The indoor World Cup stadium by wearesme

There is little over two weeks to go until World Cup fever fully descends upon the country and SME know exactly where we will be watching the action.

Coming to London this summer is the BELIEVE indoor stadium, the best place to watch the World Cup outside of South Africa. It will be the third time that this huge indoor arena has been set up for a major tournament, with the FA claiming “It’s almost better than being in an actual stadium!”

This time round, the Believe Team have got together with everyone’s favourite football management simulation game, Football Manager and will be taking over a mega-venue to turn it into London’s footballing World Cup mecca!

With massive screens, terraced standing, DJs, incredible sound, a giant bar, official South African World Cup wines and most importantly the Beautiful Game, why wouldn’t you want to go?

Every single game will be shown live in the Belive Arena, which will be stationed at The Truman Brewery – just off Brick Lane, right by Liverpool Street.

Having sold more than 100 tickets in their first hour of being on sale it is shaping up to, again, be a huge event. Last time out more than 40,000 people attended, which says all you need to know.

So, join the Facebook group for updates, more information and all the build up to 11th June.

Personally, we couldnt be more excited.

SME Believes!
