"This is diplo; also Wesley Pentz..."

Here at SME, we’re rather partial to moving documentation; especially when it gives us an insight into the people who cause us to skank. Diplo, the man behind record label Mad Decent and his avatar Major Lazer, has been featuring this short documentary at this years SXSW.

Whilst preparing for his annual Philadelphia Mad Decent Block Party, Diplo – unsurprisingly – reveals himself to be a salt of the earth kind-of-guy, talking about the influences he takes from studying both film and anthropology.

Shot mesmerizingly by director Wing-Yee Wu, this is one not to miss. Enjoy.

La Roux have done what any sensible artists would do and teamed up with two of the most influential producers around right now.
Diplo and Switch, together known as Major Lazer, have whisked away La Roux’s material on a romantic trip to Jamaica and made sweet love to it.
The outcome? A baby boy named Lazerproof. And by baby boy, we mean a mixtape.

The ‘tape, put together during Major Lazer’s recent trip to Jamaica, is made up of old songs that have been stripped apart and seasoned with a sprinkle of dancehall and hip hop, new material from the Birtish synth-pop duo and even features verses from Rusko, Amanda Blank and samples from Drake and Gucci Mane. Wowzah.

Even the artwork (top) is epic; paying homage to Iron Man 2. Check out Mickey Rourke!

2. Colourless Artibella
3. I’m Not Your Lemonade + Heroes ‘N’ Villains Remix ft. Gucci Mane

Diplo vs Tiesto – C’Mon

Who would have thought a we’d see the Trance legend Tiesto team up with one half of Major Lazer; Diplo. They say opposites attract and these two have spawned a beast. The two heavyweights have teamed up to produce this brilliant track called ‘C’mon which SME cant wait to hear drop on a night out this summer. C’mon!

And as it’s the first of our ‘Banger of the Week’ posts were going to treat you with two songs. (Truth is we couldn’t decide between the two but we can make you think otherwise)

David Guetta – Louder Than Words

Superstar producer & DJ David Guetta churns out another banging house track, this time teaming up with his new production partner and perhaps most exciting new artist in house music, Afrojack. Their new masterpiece “Louder Than Words” is gearing up for a release soon, and is rumoured to appear on Guetta’s next album. Available to download May 24th 2010 on https://www.beatport.com/. Massive summer tune.
