[VIDEO] Jessie J makes US TV debut performing on SNL by wearesme

Last night, the UK’s very own Jessie J made her US television debut, performing on the infamous Saturday Night Live show.

Jessie performed Mamma Knows Best and was later joined on stage by B.O.B. for a performance of Price Tag; both taken from her debut album Who You Are.

“I think it’s probably even more special for a British artist because we’re British. I know Adele’s done it recently and I’m so proud of her and Tinie Tempah’s blowing up here. I just feel like the British movement is coming, like U.K stand up, and I’m flying the flag. To be able to do something like ‘Saturday Night Live’ is part of history.” Jessie told MTV News.

Check out both performances below.

[NEWS + VIDEO] Matt Cardle crowned winner of UK X Factor 2010 after receiving top votes every week! by wearesme

Matt Cardle emerged victorious this evening, piping Rebecca Ferguson and One Direction to the X Factor crown. It was also just revealed that Matt received the most votes EVERY WEEK in the lead up to the final! Incredible! Rebecca was a consistent second in weeks 5, 6, 8 and 9 and of course the final.

One Direction fell at the first hurdle after a brilliant performance of ‘Torn’ leaving Matt and Rebecca who performed to sing their respective ‘winners song’ and fight for those final votes. As SME revealed a few days ago, Matt performed the Biffy Clyro track ‘Many Of Horrors’ whilst Rebecca performed Duffy’s ‘Distant Dreamer’.

Although SME feel Rebecca’s final performance was better and more suited to the artist (and her stunning voice), Matt’s emotional performance and likeability clearly got him the votes. You can see both performances below:

Matt Cardle – Many Of Horrors (When We Collide)

Rebecca Ferguson – Distant Dreamer

As winner Matt’s version will be released as a single and become hot favourite to bag Christmas number one.

Let’s hope his career doesn’t follow the route of last years winner; Joe McElderry! And we wish Rebecca and One Direction the best of luck who will no doubt both go on to be credible and successful artists much like runners-up JLS and Olly Murs.

And before we leave you, a quick shout out to SME favourite Aiden. It was revealed that Louie and Simon had both predicted Aiden would win this year when asked at boot camp stage!

[VIDEO] VH1 DIVAS 2010 SALUTE THE TROOPS (Performances) by wearesme

We brought you the photos of The VH1 Divas 2010 Salute The Troops concert yesterday, and the show finally aired in the U.S last night so we can now bring you the footage!

There were performances from Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Paramore, Sugarland but it was Grace Porter & The Nocturnals who stole the show!

The band aren’t nearly as big as fellow performers like Katy Perry or Nicki Minaj but they brought amazing energy to their set and rocked, out with their set including a duet with Heart. Following their performance their website crashed, they took over Twitter mentions and reached #5 on Google’s Hot Searches in the U.S.

You can check out their brilliant performance below along with all the other acts.

[SNAPS] VH1 Divas Salute The Troops Concert by wearesme

The likes of Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj and Keri Hilson all reported for duty at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego on Friday for the VH1 Divas Salute The Troops concert.

The show was presented by Kathy Griffin and featured a whole host of stars including SME favourites, the Jersey Shore crew! There were also loads of great performances on the night.

Katy Perry parachuted in lighting up the show with her performances of ‘Firework’ and her smash hit ‘California Gurls.’

Keri Hilson was introduced on stage by Brandy and a Navy soldier and she went on to sing her single ‘Pretty Girl Rock’ and covered Aretha Franklin’s ‘Think’ with help from Sugarland.

Nicki Minaj, sporting a bizarre poodle like blonde wig, performed her Pink Friday track ‘Moment 4 Life’ and duetted with Katy Perry on their version of Cyndi Lauper’s ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.’

The show will be aired in the US this evening and we will bring you footage as soon as its available. For now, check out some of the pictured from the night below.

And also, to do your bit for the cause, log on to www.vh1.com where VH1 are donating $1 to USO’s Operating Enduring Care for every photo shared on Facebook or Twitter.

X FACTOR 04/12/10 Semi Final – BEST OF THE BUNCH by wearesme

It’s crunch time on the X Factor, with the semi final performances now done and dusted. Last night the contestants had to sing a club classic and a ballad to get them into next weeks final.

This week we were very impressed with One Direction and the ever consistent scouser Rebecca.

One Direction – Chasing Cars

The boys had a tough week losing their mentor Simon to flu (poor sod) and they were also one member down in rehearsals with Zain making his way home due to the passing of a relative (genuine sympathy).
And yet they still stepped up and gave 2 good performances; our favourite of which was their version of the Snow Patrol classic ‘Chasing Cars’.

‘Chasing Cars’ is the second single from Snow Patrol’s fourth album, Eyes Open. It was recorded in 2005 and released on June 6, 2006 in the US and 24 July 2006 in the UK. It became notable as one of the songs that revealed the impact of legal downloads on single sales in the UK. The song is Snow Patrol’s biggest-selling single to date

It’s like they’ve been doing it for years! When you remember that the group were strung together during the audition process, their achievement in getting this far seems all the more impressive.
They definitely deserve a place in the final; if anything to show the world that hard work pays off because they took their lifeline and have done their utmost to prove it was deserved.

Rebecca Ferguson – Amazing Grace

Rebecca sung the beautiful hymn ‘Amazing Grace’ in her second performance of the evening.

“Amazing Grace” is a Christian hymn written by English poet and clergyman John Newton (1725–1807), published in 1779. With a message that forgiveness and redemption are possible regardless of the sins people commit and that the soul can be delivered from despair through the mercy of God, “Amazing Grace” is one of the most recognizable songs in the English-speaking world.

Rebecca said she has wanted to sing this song for a long time and it was a very clever song choice here. Not only does it suits her voice perfectly but it’s very relevant with (what is meant to be) a very religious time of year just around the corner.

Please note; we have not mentioned the C word for obvious reasons. She should be arrested by the music police for murdering 2 more great ‘rap’ songs. That will be all on the matter.

Results on ITV1 @ 8pm tonight.

[VIDEO] American Music Awards 2010 Performances by wearesme

It may have been all about Justin Beiber who picked up 4 awards on the night, but Rihanna stole the show from a performance point of view, opening with a medley of tracks from her album ‘LOUD’.

And in a blast from the past, Backstreet Boys and New Kids On The Block took to the stage together to perform a medley of their past hits. The 2 bands are soon to embark on a summer tour together; every boy band lovers dream.

David Haye TKO’s Fraudley Harrison in Round 3 by wearesme

First off, we’d like to empathise with those of you who forked out £15 of your hard earned and/or sacrificed a night out on the tiles to watch this fight.

Everyone knows that Audley Harrison is a walking talking joke, but even the most experienced pundits out there held the opinion that he might put up some sort of a fight; after all he is a gold medalist.

But that wasn’t the case and after an extremely uneventful first 2 rounds and having thrown next to no punches, Audley Harrison was knocked out and left 1 million pounds richer. Its a funny old world!

If you missed it, click here to check out the footage from round 3
