We Are S.M.E

[LISTEN] The Strokes – Angles (Full Album Stream) by wearesme

Ladies and Gentlemen, the wait is over; The Strokes are back and here we have their latest record in all it’s glory.

Angles is the New York bands first album for almost 5 years; an incredible wait for a group with so many plaudits and a massive following.

They kicked off all the hype with the release of Under Cover Of Darkness as a free download via their website and this was followed by leaks of Machu Pichu and You’re So Right and a performance on SNL.

Listen to the album in full below and let us know if it was worth the wait!

[FRESH VIDEO] The Strokes – Under Cover Of Darkness by wearesme

The Strokes continue the promotional steam roll of their new album Angles, releasing the visuals for the lead single Under Cover Of Darkness.

The video isn’t the most exciting; it sees the band rocking out in a Victorian mansion before taking to a theatre stage. Never the less; it’s all about the music and The Strokes are the definition.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Angles is released on March 22nd 2011.

[SME INTRODUCING] The Heartbreaks by wearesme

Who? Matthew Whitehouse (vocals), Joseph Kondras (Drums), Ryan Wallace (Guitar) and Deaks (Bass)
Yard? Morecambe
Sounds Like? Romantic take on British pop culture
Big Tune? Liar, My Dear

Hailing from Morecambe, The Heartbreaks are still in their infancy (as a band, not literally) having formed just under two years ago in May 2009. Their inspiration comes from Motown, bittersweet romance and the English seaside.

In the short time they have been together, The Heartbreaks have been championed by the likes of NME and Clash, won the Manchester Evening News award for Best New Band and have been hailed by Carl Barat as “the greatest support band ever!” after their passionate live shows during a support slot on his UK tour last winter.

They have their first single being released in the Spring and are looking set to kick some life back into the indie scene along with The Vaccines and the release of new Arctic Monkeys and Strokes material.

2011 looks set to be bright for these guys, so keep your ears open for them.

Last night, (no pun intended) The Strokes made their comeback with an intimate secret gig at London’s Dingwalls, under the alias Vension. This was their first gig since October 2006. They squeezed all of their hits into a 70 minute, 18 track set but there were no signs of any new material.

There were some celebrity fans amongst the crowd, most notably Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Libertine Carl Barat. Several fans paid over a hundred pounds for second-hand tickets to be there and we bet they were worth every penny.

To check out footage of the gig, head over to http://www.zanelowe.com/.

Set list:
New York City Cops
The Modern Age
Hard to Explain
Whatever Happened?
You Only Live Once
Vision of Division
I Can’t Win
Is This It?
Red Light
Last Night
Under Control
Heart in a cage
Take It or Leave It

Welcome back Julian Casablancas and co.
