An 11 minute grime track from 1 artist has got the whole scene up in raptures tonight, after it was aired for the first time by Logan on his Kiss 100 show. The name on every one’s lips is Durrty Goodz.

Has he called for the whole scene? Who cares? This track is a madness! He switches the flow up so many times it will have you questioning if this really is a battle as the title would suggest; Battle Hype. Listen out for some of the familiar flows he mimics.

They kicked off all the hype with the release of Under Cover Of Darkness as a free download via their website and this was followed by leaks of Machu Pichu and You’re So Right and a performance on SNL.

It’s fast turning into G.O.O.D. Music day here at SME with the number of related posts. For once, however, it isn’t all about Kanye.

Having received the honour of being selected as a member of the XXL 2011 Freshmen Class, Cyhi The Prynce’s celebrates by releasing the customary freestyle. Watch the video and see what he had to say on being selected below.

“It means a lot to me to just be known as one of the up-and-coming artists. I always like to say I got kept back twice from the Freshmen cover, but it’s a privilege just being amongst some of the best up-and-coming artists out right now and being publicized by the biggest hip-hop magazine. It’s a dream come true. It’s what every artist wanted to be. You know they want to see themselves on the cover of a magazine, or heavily publicized, so it’s an honor to me. It’s a blessing and a half. Right before I linked with Kanye, my car got repossessed. Everything wasn’t all peachy, peachy for me. I have a lot of plays this year due to me and this Kanye situation.

Freshman is like a stepping-stone. Most artists think this is the biggest point of their career. This is a stepping-stone to bigger and better things, especially with XXL. I want to have one with just my face on it, that’s the cool thing. I just need to stay working and capitalize off of every opportunity I get.”

Here is a new offering from Wiley, who appears to be putting at least some time aside to make music, in between filming ridiculous adverts and videos for his YouTube account; his latest offering is a lesson in boiling an egg. We kid you not.

Wiley teams up with Giggs and Juelz Santana for this banger Bright Lights. The beat is simple yet mad catchy, while Wiley, Giggs and Santana all go in on their respective verses. Bright lights b-b-b!

[BIASED REVIEW] We Are S.M.E Blog Party Volume 2 18/02/11 by wearesme

After nursing some serious hangovers and using the time bed-ridden to piece together what actually happened on Friday night; we are now able bring you the following review…

There’s a phenomenon known as ‘sophomore slump’ – it’s best described as the collective apprehension that the second outing of something will fail to live up to the first effort. Bands have succumbed to it (‘difficult second album syndrome’) and so have newly promoted football teams who decide to finish in the top half of the table in their first season.

Would the We Are S.M.E Blog Party Volume II fall victim to the dreaded deuce? Would the loyal entourage be demanding compensation even though the party was free? Err, nah! To say the urban soiree popped off would be an understatement (the photo’s on the flip prove we’re not being biased).

Queen SME, DJ Steffie kicked off proceedings at our second home – Villian in London’s Shoreditch – with her usual hype and super-permed ‘fro. She was joined at the turntables by long time friend and collaborator Jason Taylor, the energy they gave off was mad – the two of them seemingly morphing into one filth-playing, skank-inducing DJ. Amongst this all was an impromptu rendition of Drake from SME, the vocal similarities were uncanny and it has to said that if SME ever fall on hard times, at least one member will find work as a Drake tribute act.

Not satisfied with providing the entourage with a skankathon, SME decided to throw a bit of history in the mix by reuniting resident DJ TP with DJ Marek after seven long years. Pretty much every man, woman and child (who let the kid in?) who heard them thought we were making the reunification up. Bringing with them a 3rd CDJ to act as hype-man, they were seamless; picking up where they left off all those years ago. And as if their serious set wasn’t enough, the pair produced our Volume 2 mixtape which went like hot cakes.
