[WATCH] Super Bowl XLV Commercials by wearesme

Last night saw the Greenbay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers compete in the 45th annual Super Bowl. The game was held at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas where the Lil Wayne backed Packers were eventually crowned champions after a 31-25 victory.

Such is the popularity of the Super Bowl, (last years match drew viewing figures of 106.5 million in the US alone) that advertising slots during the match are the most expensive in the world. This year, a 30 second slot would set you back no less than $3 million. WOW.

As you can imagine; with the adverts carrying such a hefty price tag, only the major companies get in on the action. Companies such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Mercedes Benz and Budweiser compete with each other to come up with the most unique and talked about commercial. Naturally, they rope in all the celebs they can; with the likes of Eminem, P Diddy, Justin Beiber and Kim Kardashian all featuring at some point.

If you didn’t watch the Super Bowl (you missed out!), or we’re subjected to the boring UK coverage; you can watch all of the US adverts on YouTube. Just click on the link below, where you can also vote for your favourite:

[NEWS] Matt Cardle’s ‘When We Collide’ crowned Christmas Number 1 by wearesme

2010 X Factor winner Matt Cardle has beaten all competition in this weeks chart to claim the elusive Christmas number one.

Matt’s cover of the Mercury Prize-nominated Biffy Clyro track ‘Many Of Horrors’ sold a massive 439,000 copies in the six days following his victory on the ITV talent show last Sunday, making it the biggest selling non-charity record in its debut week this year.
Also of note; Biffy Clyro’s original track entered at number 8 with a massive 40,000 sales this week. The power of the X Factor is unquestionable!

Rihanna claimed the number 2 with an impressive 100,000+ in sales for her collaboration with Drake on ‘What’s My Name’. Her steamy performance on the X Factor final definitely didn’t harm sales!

Facebook campaign contenders failed in their attempted ambush of the Christmas number one with Trashmen ‘Surfin Bird’ made number 3 with 68,000 copies and John Cage’s ‘4 33’ entered at number 21 with just under 15,000 sales.

So, congratulations to Matt Cardle! And love or hate The X Factor, you can’t deny that this is a beautiful song; whether you prefer Matt’s version or the original.

[MUSIC + VIDEO] One Direction – Young Forever (Winners Single) & Harry whispering to Matt clip by wearesme

Had the boys got through to the final 2 we would have seen them perform their version of the Alphaville song ‘Young Forever’, which was most recently covered by Jay-Z and Mr Hudson.

So this is for all the One Direction fans who were upset that the boys didn’t win and thought they would never hear the song. Listen, download and enjoy!

And while were on the topic of One Direction…some of you may have noticed cheeky chap Harry whispering something in Matt’s ear when all of the contestants took to the stage to celebrate after his win.
Yes you saw right, he did say “Pussy”! “Just think about how much pussy you’re gonna get” to be precise! LAD!

SME RELOAD: Matt Cardle wins X Factor 2010

[NEWS + VIDEO] Matt Cardle crowned winner of UK X Factor 2010 after receiving top votes every week! by wearesme

Matt Cardle emerged victorious this evening, piping Rebecca Ferguson and One Direction to the X Factor crown. It was also just revealed that Matt received the most votes EVERY WEEK in the lead up to the final! Incredible! Rebecca was a consistent second in weeks 5, 6, 8 and 9 and of course the final.

One Direction fell at the first hurdle after a brilliant performance of ‘Torn’ leaving Matt and Rebecca who performed to sing their respective ‘winners song’ and fight for those final votes. As SME revealed a few days ago, Matt performed the Biffy Clyro track ‘Many Of Horrors’ whilst Rebecca performed Duffy’s ‘Distant Dreamer’.

Although SME feel Rebecca’s final performance was better and more suited to the artist (and her stunning voice), Matt’s emotional performance and likeability clearly got him the votes. You can see both performances below:

Matt Cardle – Many Of Horrors (When We Collide)

Rebecca Ferguson – Distant Dreamer

As winner Matt’s version will be released as a single and become hot favourite to bag Christmas number one.

Let’s hope his career doesn’t follow the route of last years winner; Joe McElderry! And we wish Rebecca and One Direction the best of luck who will no doubt both go on to be credible and successful artists much like runners-up JLS and Olly Murs.

And before we leave you, a quick shout out to SME favourite Aiden. It was revealed that Louie and Simon had both predicted Aiden would win this year when asked at boot camp stage!

Red In The Face Comedy Night 12/10/10 by mozzatron

SME were invited down to ‘Punk’ in Soho last night by our good friends at ‘Red In The Face’ for another sold out, laughter filled evening.

In the crowd were all of the house-mates from the most recent Big Brother, including winner Josie, eagerly awaiting their fellow house-mate and finalist Andrew Edmond’s stand up debut.

Edmond’s was joined by 4 other brilliant acts; Irish rap duo Abandoman, the foursome of Late Night Gimp Fight, Rob Beckett and the beautiful Rachel Parris.
Each act provided something completely different from the next; there were sketch scenes, music, rap, and good old-fashioned stand up.

We will bring you exclusive video footage later in the week, but for now check out a few snaps from the evening, below.

It really is a brilliant night out. The comedians are always award-winning and of the highest standard, and the venue is nice and cosy with armchairs and sofas to keep you comfy. Drinks are also 2 for 1 if you arrive early; what more could you ask for from a night out!

Red In The Face is held @ Punk in Soho once a month. For more information check out their Facebook page.
