[NEWS] No repeat of RATM 09 – First day chart sales put Matt Cardle top for X-Mas #1 by wearesme

Exclusive early Official Single sales data show Matt Cardle’s X Factor winners single ‘When We Collide’ is well on course for a Xmas No 1 this Sunday with a huge 112,000 sales in its 1st day.

This would suggest there will be no repeat of last years number 1 ambush, with ‘Surfin’ Bird’ by Trashman sat in 3rd place (25,000) behind Rihanna’s ‘Whats My Name’ (50,000) and ‘Cage Against The Machine’ at 19 (6,000) .

Interestingly, Biffy Clyro’s original version of Matt Cardle winners song (Many Of Horror) is on course to enter the Top 10, with 15,000 sales so far.

The group are inevitably set to earn an impressive pay packet this Christmas from the cover of their hit song. Going off past calculations, songwriter Simon Neil could earn £25,000 from sales alone and another £125 for every radio play. Based on 2008 winner Alexandra Burke’s cover of ‘Hallelujah’ being played 4,435 times in the two months after its release, earnings from playback alone could reach in excess of £500,000. (NME)

SME RELOAD: Matt Cardle wins X Factor 2010

[NEWS + VIDEO] Matt Cardle crowned winner of UK X Factor 2010 after receiving top votes every week! by wearesme

Matt Cardle emerged victorious this evening, piping Rebecca Ferguson and One Direction to the X Factor crown. It was also just revealed that Matt received the most votes EVERY WEEK in the lead up to the final! Incredible! Rebecca was a consistent second in weeks 5, 6, 8 and 9 and of course the final.

One Direction fell at the first hurdle after a brilliant performance of ‘Torn’ leaving Matt and Rebecca who performed to sing their respective ‘winners song’ and fight for those final votes. As SME revealed a few days ago, Matt performed the Biffy Clyro track ‘Many Of Horrors’ whilst Rebecca performed Duffy’s ‘Distant Dreamer’.

Although SME feel Rebecca’s final performance was better and more suited to the artist (and her stunning voice), Matt’s emotional performance and likeability clearly got him the votes. You can see both performances below:

Matt Cardle – Many Of Horrors (When We Collide)

Rebecca Ferguson – Distant Dreamer

As winner Matt’s version will be released as a single and become hot favourite to bag Christmas number one.

Let’s hope his career doesn’t follow the route of last years winner; Joe McElderry! And we wish Rebecca and One Direction the best of luck who will no doubt both go on to be credible and successful artists much like runners-up JLS and Olly Murs.

And before we leave you, a quick shout out to SME favourite Aiden. It was revealed that Louie and Simon had both predicted Aiden would win this year when asked at boot camp stage!

[NEWS] X Factor Final songs revealed by wearesme

For the first time in the shows history, each finalist has recorded their own song instead of singing their own version of the same song.

It’s definitely a good idea, for both the artists and the competition. No longer can people argue that the song was chosen with one artist in mind and likewise the artists themselves will be happier.

Just moments ago the songs were revealed, and it wouldn’t be The X Factor without a bit of controversy. The 2 controversial choices are One Direction singing a Jay-Z and Mr Hudson’s song, while Matt Cardle tackles a Biffy Clyro track.

Check out the artist song choices and the original versions below:

One Direction – Forever Young (Jay-Z & Mr Hudson)

Matt Cardle – Many Of Horror (Biffy Clyro)

Cher Lloyd – Impossible (Shontelle)

Rebecca Ferguson –  Distant Dreamer (Duffy)

We think Rebecca’s song is going to be stunning and probably the best of the bunch. What are your thoughts? And who will you be voting for?

The X Factor Final will be aired tomorrow (Saturday) at 7pm on ITV1.
